This is a low priced edition notebook by Dell to capture all the emerging markets in the world. It features the Ubuntu operating system and a 15.6-inch display. The base system configuration for the Vostro A860 includes an Intel Celeron M 560 processor, 1 GB of DDR2 800 MHz memory, a 15.6-inch screen with anti-glare and a 1366 X 768 resolution.Looks wise the notebook has the appearance of a high end edition. But the fact is that it is made of very cheap materials available in the market. This is especially true for the synthetic material used for the palm rest areas, which does not feel nice to the touch. The keyboard is very soft and demands the user not to type harsh on it. Once you start using the keyboard, you’ll notice that it seriously flexes and that the tapping of the keys is rather loud and unpleasant. Touch pad is small and precise. Furthermore, the sharp edges of the key heads make typing feel rather uncomfortable. The laptop offers a DVD burner, 802.11g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a 6-cell battery. The Dell Vostro A860 weighs in at 5.4-pounds with a 4-cell battery and it is up to 1.5-inches thick. This is an entry level business laptop which could be used for all purposes quite comfortably in spite of its cheap make.
